Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen co-screenwriter Roberto Orci has been answering questions on the TFW2005 forums, here are some of the highlights:
About Writing Shia’s hand injury into the Script: “Luckily nothing has to be reshot. Yes, we were on set last week to write it into the movie, not because it’s absolutely necessary, but more because we want to make sure Shia’s hand is protected for the remainder of the shoot…”
On the Leftovers from the First Film: “There were a a couple things we couldn’t do [in Transformers 1 due to] budget, but also because they seemed too “out there” to the studio. Some of those things we get to do in the second movie. After we see it, I’ll point out which.”

According to Los Angeles Times, Steven Spielberg and Michael Bay have signed with DreamWorks to make Transformers 2, which will hit theaters in Summer 2009.
Even if he leaves, Spielberg will remain the crown jewel of the acquisition for many years. He and director Michael Bay have signed on to make “Transformers 2,” scheduled to hit theaters in the summer of 2009.
However, Michael Bay wrote last week on his blog that he might be “jump ship” to make a pre-strike movie. If Bay gets involved in a big budget picture like Disney’s Prince of Persia, who knows when Bay would be available for a Transformers sequel.

Transformers is being rereleased on the IMAX screen with a few more minutes of footage. For the most part, the IMAX version is not much different from the theatrical release from July.
Slashfilm was able to count 6 extended sequences in the film which includes:
Paramount made a very bad decision earlier this week when it was announced an exclusive partnership with HD-DVD. HD-DVD is clearly the losing to Blu-ray in the next gen format war. Most of the other studios have decided to support the blue.
On his Web site, an irate Bay threatened to not give Paramount a sequel to his blockbuster movie should the studio limit its high-definition disc release to HD DVD.
I want people to see my movies in the best formats possible. For them to deny people who have Blu-ray sucks! They were progressive by having two formats. No ‘Transformers 2′ for me!”. continue

Transformers is coming back to the big screen, and it will be bigger, longer and uncut will premiere at IMAX theaters on September 21st with extra footage not included in the conventional theatrical release.
With only a $150 million budget, Transformers has made over $634 million worldwide thus far. We don’t know, but we can’t wait to hear Optimus Prime’s voice in IMAX’s digital speaker system, or see the robots battling it out on the giant screen! “Autobots, transform and roll out!”
