IMPAwards has the first official teaser poster for Terminator Salvation.

McG give some explanation of the visual style of the new film and the work they have been doing with the story. Here are a few excerpts:

“We have set out to achieve a completely new visual style that hasn’t been seen before. We’re shooting the film on color stock but are using a method inspired by the Oz process which was developed at Technicolor by Mike Zacharia and Bob Olson. Basically we are adding three times as much silver. It creates a surreal texture that is in keeping with the notion of the entire picture - feeling detached from the world we know today.”

“Every morning and every night Christian [Bale] and I work on the story.” … “We are committed to putting the story and character first and then supplementing that with action and visual effects.  It is our intention to make a film on a large scale with the nuance and subtext of a high quality independent picture.” … “The entire crew takes the making of this film very seriously. I made a point of hiring key personnel that are passionate about getting this right. Everyone is well versed in the mythology.”

Warner Bros released the first high resolution photo of Christian Bale as John Connor.

Meanwhile, io9 took a closer look at the kick ass Terminator Salvation teaser trailer and spotted what is believed to be a a T-600. Filmmaker explained that the T-600 is a:

AICN  confirmed a spy’s rundown of the Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins teaser that will be attached to The Dark Knight next month. Here’s the description:

“We then get the big money shot of the trailer. Its Bale on a motorcycle with some girl on the back. They speed through a door of what looks like a warehouse toward us. As soon as they pass the screen, a huge terminator on wheels, a lot like the one they battle in the first one, smashes through the wall, chasing them. It looks awesome.”

Warner Bros has announced that McG’s Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins will hit theaters on May 22nd 2009. Terminator 4 begins production in New Mexico for two months on May 5th.

Christian Bale stars as John Connor alongside Sam Worthington (Avatar) in the first of a three film story arc which follows a group of survivors led by John Connor as they struggle to stop the machines after Skynet has destroyed much of humanity in a nuclear holocaust.

No Country for Old Men star Josh Brolin might be cast as the new Terminator in Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins.

According to McG:

“There’s guys out there like Russell Crowe and Eric Bana, bring a good physicality, they do what they do, but I don’t know if they’re exactly right at the end of the day,” McG smiles before telling Two-One-Three: “Josh Brolin is a very exciting actor - we’ll see.”

This is addition to the already officially announced Christian Bale as John Connor would certainly raise the level of talent in front of the camera in the start of this new science fiction trilogy.McG also gives an update on the preproduction process:

The upcoming fourth Terminator film, Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins details revealed:

• John Conner (played by Christian Bale in the new film) is NOT the main character in the fourth film, but will have a more sizable role in the Fifth movie.

• The Main Character is a bad ass “Riddick”-like guy named Marcus (couldn’t they have come up with a better name?) who wakes up on post-apocalyptic earth, around 15 years before the future shown in the original Terminator.
