Warners are in the early stages of trying to relaunch the popular action series. Not a bad idea, everyone loves the films, and Mel Gibson could really do with a hit or two right now. ‘Candlestick’ works for one of the big men involved in the series - and talked;

“Hey Clint, still working over here at [place of employment removed] as [position]. Probably no surprise to hear, but there’s more Lethal talk. Apparently the whole trend of resurrecting old action heroes, like John McClane (in “Live Free or Die Hard”) and John Rambo has spurred them on. Twelve months after Gibson turned down the offer to do a fifth one, they’re trying again. Something might have changed - guess his career is kind of in the shitter? - because it seems to be going somewhere. That’s this week anyway. We shall see. Danny Glover’s not committing until he sees a script.”

Director Richard Donner apparently has a script. A couple of years back he sounded keen anyway.

“It’s up to Mel. If he says yes then there’s another Lethal Weapon. I have a great story, I’d love to do it and put Lethal Weapon to bed. If they want to go and make it without Mel well, go ahead and be my guest but it’s not for me. Mel is Lethal Weapon. It was hard for Mel to do Lethal 4. It was really hard on him. For Lethal Weapon 5 it would have to be a story that would be worthwhile, but I think maybe there is something out there.”

Rumors from warcraft.moviechronicles.com said Diablo (one of the popular computer games) will be going for the big screen. “Diablo” was spotted in the “In Development” section of Legendary Pictures‘ website. This notice has since been removed and Blizzard have been characteristically silent on the whole matter. Coming from an official source this is hard to classify as merely rumor, though lack of an official press statement and the notice’s removal does warrant this labelling.

Co-writer Michael Dougherty had say about the upcoming sequel when user on The Planet Forum talked with him while visiting the U.S. Capitol

The Man of Steel weren’t true. He said that they were on track and that the goal is still to have the movie out in the summer of 2009. He seemed a little hesitant about it but did his best to try and reassure that it will get done by then. I asked if he could give any more info on the film. He responded, “There are TWO villains,” and he smiled.

So guys, who you like to be the villains?

• Nathan and Peter are alive. Isaac is dead but we’ll see more paintings of the future during season two ( from Peter or Sylar?)

• Hector Luis Bustamante (of ‘Hostage’ fame) has signed for a guest starring role that may turn into recurring

• Lyndsy Fonseca is off the show . Fonseca’s “gay cheerleader” role had to be cut after Fonseca landed a series regular part on Desperate Housewives.

• Ali’s character, Niki, will move away from the split-personality gig.

• Dania Ramirez revealed that her character, Maya “..speaks Spanish, is in Central America and she’s running from the cops…”. Press notes describe Maya as “a young woman plagued by a threatening ability that has driven both her and her twin brother Alejandro (Shalim Ortiz) from their home in the Dominican Republic to make the dangerous crossing to the United States in search of help.”

• Zachary Quinto, asked about his role on the upcoming Star Trek movie said “Everybody else seems to have more to say about it than I do”…”I’m under strict orders not to say anything ” But the usually well informed insiders insist he got the part, and Tim Kring said “we’re in negotiations about that now” [he’ll work Quinto’s shooting schedule to not interfere with Star Trek’s]

• Haiti, Egypt, Mexico, Ireland, Ukraine, Japan and -obviously- the US are among this season’s destinations.

• Ubisoft is finishing a deal with NBC Universal to produce a “Heroes” videogame. Official announcement might come as early as this weekend at the SDCC

After success with Transformers the Movie, Dreamworks switch two sequels to Transformers. Micheal Bay says, “the studio likes what it has seen and is already developing a “Transformers” sequel script.” Potential future Transformers movie installments could include the Dinobots, Constructicons, and Soundwave.
